reluctant to evolve

This post was originally published on April 5, 2008.

For the longest time, I have despised blogs. I am not sure why, really. I guess I had some resentment toward those who’d discovered the phenomenon before me, and quite frankly, I wanted to rebel.

I teach an online publication class at a magnet school, and when I say “online publication,” I mean, “I was hired two weeks before the class started and until a curriculum is developed and I learn some html, it’s pretty much PDFs.” I thought it would be good to attend a symposium for online journalism to get some ideas for next year and you know–develop professionally, and lo and behold, all the talk about blogging didn’t just catch my interest, I’m convinced.

I thought I would try it out, see what all the hoopla is. Honestly, I am having a blast with each new character I type! I can type, type, type and I really have no other expectations than to see how long I can write on the same topic without running out of things to say.

I will not promise thought-provoking user generated content and I don’t even know if there is anyone there, but I will take the steps and become what is.
